Our snow week in England!!!

This week was probably the most exciting week in England for me, Tara, in a loooooong time!

Why you ask?

Because there was snow on the ground everyday, all day, for the whole entire week!!!! I haven't had that since I was in Alaska! :D So needless to say I wore myself out with excited energy and practically burst with glee!!!

SUNDAY

Coming home from a long weekend in France to snow!

MONDAY

Driving into work...
View of the snow outside my office window...you have no idea how hard it was for me to concentrate on work!!!

WEDNESDAY

Parked the car and walking into work...
The pond behind the lab was so peaceful...
View of the back of the lab (the pond would be to the left in this photo)

FRIDAY

Beside myself with excitement over the fresh snow falling!!!!
Schools may close. Offices may close. Public transport may be delayed. But McDonald's is always a sure thing - rain or shine, snow or sleet...nothing will keep them from closing their doors.

Thrilled to be walking into work in the falling snow yet again!!!!

Weekend Retreat...

to the Peak District with families from the Cambridge SDA Church. Had a beautiful, uplifting weekend at the peaceful Sandybrook Country Park. If you ever get the chance to stay at Sandybrook, which I hope you do, they have the most relaxing cabins that have the ability to refresh one's hectic life. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of these or any of the meetings, but I do have some photos from the group hike today to Dovedale - absolutely breathtaking!

Giany "Versace", our paparazzi.
Wellies, check. Beanie, check. Coat, check. Swimming goggles, check. Right, let's go hiking...
With our buddy, Tessa, before heading out on the hike.

After running up the right side of that hill in the pic to the left. I'm so going to start hill running - indescribable high.

Ryan giving H a lift up the hill.
Part of our group.

H thoroughly enjoying her ice cream cone. She is too cute!
Final group shot after the hike.

Bonfire Night

Remembe remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

Went and watched the fireworks for Guy Fawkes night Wednesday with friends from work, sans Ryan cause he was working late.  Sadly I don't seem to have taken any photos of the group of us, just the fireworks. Which is a shame because you miss out on seeing my light up bunny ears...that everyone used as a beacon to keep from getting separated.*

I also couldn't seem to get away from the tree.

Weaving through the road crowd to get to our next destination...

The bonfire...
More crowds...
Still more crowds...and fair rides...and yummy fair food smells.

* Let the record show that they all made fun of the bunny ears at first.

Great day for a birthday

A big Happy Birthday to my Daddy today! I send you lots of love and birthday hugs from across the pond! See you in 2 weeks!!! :D

But now I find I can’t seem to stay up as late, nor do I want to, and I’m tending to be übber productive when I wake up first thing of a morning…Ryan attributes this to my ‘getting older’ the closer I approach 30 (which isn’t this birthday!)

Anglesey Abbey

Mom and I also made it over to Anglesey Abbey. Ryan and I are National Trust members. When mom and I went to Stowe Landscape Gardens the lady at the till didn't even ask to see my membership card, so I thought I'd try to get mom in on Ryan's membership here. This time the girl at the till dutifully studied the membership cards. I feined ingnorance that I thought family members could use it since my mom was visiting from the USA. She didn't like it (and probably didn't believe me) but she let me do it anyway...only after giving me a lecture not to do it again.

We did go in the house. Lots of rooms that were dark and horribly moldy smelling. I'm guessing  hoping it was more pleasant in it's earlier days.

That's no good.
You're distracting me.
I got it. I got it.

Pass the cotton candy

Went to the Quy Country Fair.  Unfortunately neither mom nor I remembered to get cash before we went in so we didn't get to buy any fair food...won't make that mistake again. The highlight for me was getting to see the Newfoundlands!

We're gonna add a beautiful Newfie to our family one day!

Let the parade begin...

What a nice ass...or 4...   hee hee

And so it continues...

After mom and I walked all over Stowe Landscape Gardens we had just enough time to breeze by Waddesdon Manor. It was too late to go in the house but the grounds were ours for the exploring. It also happens to be the first place I've been to here in England that reminded me of any part of home - more specifically, the Biltmore Estate. The pictures don't do it justice, but believe me I was a happy for a good hour being transported back home. :)

It's mini-Biltmore

These flower birds were everywhere.
You can see part of the bird aviary in the background.

The stables...that house a restaurant and gift shop instead of horses.

Time out

Mkay, obviously I'm no where near finished with the posting of the pictures. But have no fear, I will resume my quest tomorrow after work. Till then...good night and God bless.
